KIDS SHOULDN’T HAVE CANCER
In 2014, Johnny Wade, only 7 years old and an identical twin, was looking forward to Christmas coming in a few weeks when his family was told he had a malignant brain tumor. Just days after Christmas, Jonny underwent a five-hour brain surgery to remove as much of the tumor as possible.
Over the course of the next year, Jonny endured four more brain surgeries, as well as eye surgeries, surgical port accesses, feeding tube insertions, radiation therapy, and more scans and needle sticks than the family could count. He constantly had tubes in his nose, chest and, later, in his belly.
Despite all the brain Jonny was enduring he maintained a positive attitude and his faith grew stronger.
“I don’t want any other kid to have cancer,” Jonny said one day.
On Christmas Eve, a year after his diagnosis, Jonny passed away in his home surrounded by family. While thousands of friends, family and even strangers prayed for a miracle to heal Jonny, he himself ended up being the miracle. He had healed others by showing the strength of his faith in the midst of his weakness.
